About Our Complete Physical Examinations

What happens during a complete physical?

A typical exam includes a review of your medical history, a physical assessment (vitals, heart, lungs, and reflexes), and a discussion regarding nutrition, exercise, and mental health. Depending on your age and history, it may also include blood work or specialized screenings.

How long does the appointment take?

Because we prioritize a thorough assessment, a Complete Physical usually takes between 30 to 60 minutes. This allows ample time for you to ask questions and for our clinicians to provide a detailed evaluation.

How often should I get a physical?

For most healthy adults, an annual physical is recommended. However, depending on your specific health markers or chronic conditions, your doctor may suggest a different frequency to ensure optimal monitoring.

Is blood work included in the exam?

While the physical exam itself is covered by provincial health plans, specific lab tests are ordered based on clinical necessity. Most standard preventative blood panels are covered, and we will discuss any specialized testing costs with you beforehand.

Should I fast before my appointment?

It is often helpful to fast (no food or drink except water) for 8 to 12 hours before your physical if you anticipate having blood work done for cholesterol or blood sugar. We will confirm these instructions when you book your appointment.

What if an issue is discovered during the exam?

If your physical reveals a concern that requires further investigation, we will coordinate necessary specialist referrals or follow-up diagnostic imaging to ensure you receive the specialized care you need.
